The traditional Chinese civilization is extensive and profound. It is of long standingand well established. Chinese history is well known for its steady structure and clearskeleton. For the flourishing of Chinese culture and history there're several reasons, amongwhich the traditional management plays an important role. Represented by Confucius andMencius, the Confucian doctrine has experienced a long history over two thousand yearsand has become the mainstream of Chinese traditional culture. It has formed its specialthinking form of management. As the dominant shaping power over people's idiosyncrasy,it has branded itself into our moral conception, value orientation, thinking mode, criterionof behavior and social psychology. In the history of human future development, the spiritual connotations of theConfucian doctrine will still provide wise enlightenment for human existence anddevelopment. Just as the 75 Nobel Prize winners pointed out in the Paris Declaration inJanuary, 1988, if they want to survive in the 21st century, human beings must date back asearly as 6 BC in order to benefit from the wisdom of Confucius living 2500 years ago.For modern management, the value of mature managing thoughts in Confucianismhas been accepted by more and more people. Confucianism has not only greatly influencedthe forming of enterprise culture of modern China, but also profoundly affected theneighboring countries of China, such as Japan, Southeast Asian countries, and even otherparts of the world. "the Confucian doctrine and ethics and modern business management"has become the hot topic of the Confucian culture study. No matter in the industrial districtof East Asia which is called as "the late Confucian doctrine" or in the European orAmerican countries who imported the new Confucian management thinking of Japan intotheir own managing practice, the successful examples of Confucian doctrine's beingexperimented in the enterprises of these districts have been paid wise attention to by theinternational world. It is very meaningful to study the Confucian doctrine from the view ofmanagement, to draw useful ideas and to enrich and perfect our modern enterprisemanaging theory and practice. People try to analyze and denote the practical importance ofthe Confucian doctrine, and find out the helpful instructions from those successfulexamples.Based on the extensive system of Chinese Confucian doctrine, applying the methodsof systematic analysis, comparative analysis, comprehensive analysis and literature research, from the perspectives of modern management, the thesis interprets the traditionalConfucian managing thoughts and explores the useful ones. It analyzes the Confuciandoctrine from four aspects, that is, humanity, kindness, righteousness and faithfulness, deals with the connotations and features of business management, and summarizes theimportant role played by Chinese Confucian doctrine in the modern business management.By citing the successful examples, the thesis analyzes the application of some importantthoughts in the modern business management, such as, people-oriented thoughts,peace-valued thoughts, the thoughts of making profits based on righteousness, and thethoughts of running business relying on honesty, and explores the enlightenment providedby these thoughts. It clarifies some unreflecting, even wrong notions of Confucian doctrineby some people, draws out the essence of times and casts out out-dated and negativeeconomically ethical ideas. It focuses on the application of Confucian managementthoughts in the modern business management, which will be of important and profoundsignificance for our enterprises to explore the Confucian doctrine as China's traditionalculture, to better absorb the essence of our traditional culture, and to examine theapplication of Confucian doctrine in the modern business management.
