Zhejiang Foreign Trade And The Structure And The Relationship Between Industrial Structure

Foreign trade structure and industrial structure are always the hot subjects of research in academia, but the relationship between foreign trade structure and industrial structure is still relatively few in research. With the economic development and the increase of foreign trade dependence degree, the connection between open and industrial sectors becomes profound and complex. So it has realistic significance in the research of the relationship between foreign trade structure and industrial structure.This dissertation studies the relationship between foreign trade structure and industrial structure of Zhejiang province. The key research is put on the relationship between the structural changes of foreign trade and the structural changes of industry, and the way and mechanism of the interaction of foreign trade structure and industrial structure. The main contents are divided into three parts: The first part is about related theories and literature reviews, which hackles the theories of international trade and industrial structure, summarizes the related research literature and analyses the way and mechanism of interacion of foreign trade structure and industrial structure to construct a theoretical framework of the relationship between the foreign trade structure and industrial structure; The second part is the major body of this dissertation. Firstly, it analyses the evolution course of foreign trade structure and industrial structure in Zhejiang province, and summarizes the character and trend of the structural changes. Secondly, it makes an empirical analysis on the long-term and short-term relationship between the structural changes of foreign trade and structural changes of industry in Zhejiang province from 1986 to 2006. Thirdly, it makes an empirical analysis again on the relationship between trade factors and the structural changes of industry, and the relationship between industrial factors and the structural changes of foreign trade; The third part is conclusion and policy suggestion, which summarizes the conclusion of the research, and puts forward the corresponding advices.Through the empirical analysis, the basic conclusions of the thesis are as follows: (1) There exists a long-run positive and stable relationship between the structural changes of industry and structural changes of export, and also between the structural changes of industry and structural changes of export. And there is an Granger causality between the structural changes of industry and the structural changes of export. The structural changes of import is the Granger causality of the structural changes of industry. (2) There is a positive correlation between the export of manufactured goods and the proportion of tertiary industry, a negative correlation between the export of manufactured goods and the proportion of primary and second industries. There is a negative correlation between the export of primary goods and the proportion of primary industry; There is a positive correlation between the import of manufactured goods and the proportion of primary industry. There is a negative correlation between the import of primary goods and the proportion of primary industry, and a positive correlation between the import of primary goods and the proportion of tertiary industry. (3) There is a positive correlation between the development of primary industry and the proportion of manufactured goods export and import, and a negative correlation between the development of primary industry and the proportion of primary goods import; There is a negative correlation between the development of second industry and the proportion of manufactured goods export, a positive correlation between the development of second industry and the proportion of primary goods export, a positive correlation between the development of second industry and the proportion of manufactured goods import, and a negative correlation between the development of second industry and the proportion of primary goods import; There is a positive correlation between the development of tertiary industry and the proportion of manufactured goods export, a negative correlation between the development of tertiary industry and the proportion of primary goods export, a negative correlation between the development of tertiary industry and the proportion of manufactured goods import, and a positive correlation between the development of tertiary industry and the proportion of primary goods import.On the basis of the above conclusions, some policy suggestions are put forward as follows: (1) Perfect further Zhejiang province's economy system to promote the positive interaction and optimization between the foreign trade structure and industrial structure; (2) Optimize further export goods structure to improve the promoting effect of export goods structure on industrial structure; (3) Optimize further import goods structure to improve the promoting effect of import goods structure on industrial structure; (4) Optimize further industrial structure to realize the positive interation with export goods structure and import goods structure.
