The government's economic funiction is that the government manages the economical operation,organizes and promote the economical development. It is governmental funiction of planning,coordinating,servicing and supervising national economics.At present,the majority countries in the world have adopted market economy pattern,and market has become the foundation form for the disposition of resources. At the same time,the government still plays an important role in the contemporary market.The position of government economic function diretly relate to one country's development.The functions of government will be more important.After sunnarizing the achievements of research on theory of the government and the theoretical analysis to government's economic function,the paper analyzed and studied on the experiences of some developed countries and developing countries in developing their market economies.The Main of the Paper can be devided into three parts. Firstly,it explains the theory of government economic function.Form the historial point of view,it reviews the theories of western country's interference on market economy. Secondly ,Ianalyzed the progresses of the economic development of some developed countries and the evolvement of the government's economic function in this course. Taking America, Japan, Germany and France as examples, I analyzed the contents and characteristics of the government's economic function in these countries, and the ways and means by which the economic function is exercised. Finally,I pointed out that Chinese government may make use of their experiences when exercising economic function.Our country is in a most difficult period of reform.How to make the reform go smoothly and the economy develop contnnously,steadily and healthily?The only way is to transform the duty of the government and streng the grand economic control of the government in hope that our socialist market rconomic pattern could be pushed forwaed to achieve maturity.Then,our country will achieve scientific development and social harmony.
