With the open and deregulation of Chinese financial market, in accordance with the timetable admitted by china when entering WTO, foreign banks are making sufficient preparations in institutions and business locations. The inherent advantages of foreign banks will become more and more obvious, while Chinese state-owned commercial banks have no advantage in innovations. State-owned commercial banks should have clear understanding of this and carry out strategic restructuring as soon as possible; otherwise they will miss the precious development opportunities. Therefore, the research on competitive edge of Chinese state-owned commercial banks has theoretical and practical significance. This paper does some research on the theory of competitive edge and CRM of Chinese state-owned commercial banks, especially emphasize on the key promotion to competitive edge of application of CRM system. It also include the general research on competitive edge of state-owned banks, the general problem they face right now, the necessary of research on competitive edge of Chinese state-owned commercial banks; The main innovations of this paper are as follows: Using the competitive edge theories, the author carries out a comparatively systematic research on the competitive edge of Chinese state-owned commercial banks, and then points out definitely that the competitive edge of Chinese state-owned commercial banks comes from the application of CRM system.
