With the continuous success of TOYOTA the TOYOTA's production system(TPS) becomes more and more popular in the world.The TPS also is called Lean Production(LP).For the time being many scholars are studying the LP.Much more companies are learning the LP and start to implement the LP.Company A has got good result after its nine-year plant operation in Shanghai.With strong market in china and Asia Company A is required to provide more types and more large amount product by its customers.Company A has expanded its capacity recently.With the increasing production complexity Company A faces lots of challenges like cost reduction,the various demand of customers,heavy load of equipment and more and more overtime works.Of course at same time Company A has got some opportunities.The author wants to address both the success and failure in Company A for its LP practice and attempt to give some suggestion about how to improve.There are 6 chapters in this paper.Chapter 1 gives a brief introduction of the history of Company A and its mother company in USA and briefly describes the challenges faced by Company A currently as preface.Chapter 2 briefly introduces LP theories applied here and how to implement.It includes《The Machine That Changed The World》written by James P Womack,Daniel T Jones and Daniel Loose,《Lean Thinking》written by James P Womack,Daniel T Jones,《The Toyota Way》written by Jeffrey K Liker and《The TOYOTA Way Field book》written by Jeffrey K Liker and David Meier. Main theories are 5 steps of LP from《Lean thinking》and 4 category principles from《The TOYOTA Way》.Chapter 3 analyzess how the "Philosophy" is deployed in company A.Chapter 4&5 are the key part of this paper for "LP procedure".Chapter 4 analyzes the "manufacturing process" and "value stream" in company A and give the suggestion about how to improve.Chapter 5 analyzes the "site management" and suggests how to improve.Some LP tools like "Production stabilization","standard operation","SMED","plant layout,"5S" and "TQM" are covered in this chapter.Chapter 6 analyzes some areas needed to be addressed and give lots of suggestion also.At the end chapter summarizes the whole paper.Since the paper is not for rationalism study the main purpose is to summarize the success and failure of LP practice in company A.Some suggestion is provided to improve the LP performance which would be valuable reference for those company to start or deploy LP practice.
