Founded on April 8, 1987 with its head office in Shenzhen, China Merchants Bank (CMB) is the first share-holding commercial bank wholly owned by corporate legal entities. After 20 years of development, China Merchants Bank has transitioned itself into a national commercial bank with certain scale and influence, from a regional bank located in Shekou, Shenzhen. The Bank has been building up its business network and organizational structure with headquarter located in Shenzhen, and penetrated into both nation-wide domestic cities and overseas market. CMB is well recognized by its clients and the general public as a bank of innovation, quality service and advanced technologies. China Merchants Bank has set up branches in more than 30 major cities in China as well as in HKSAR with total business network over 500 and employees nearly 30 thousand. At the end of 2007, the total asset of China Merchants Bank is above 1.3 trillion yuan, with annual net profit over 15 billion yuan, and is ranked the 6th among "the top 100 banks in China" by British financial journal The Banker.It is proved by business management theory and practice that management is the key issue in process of enterprise development. Backwardness in management will lead to retrogression and even defeat in development. For the purpose of improving its ability and level of management in its rapid development, CMB keeps attaching great importance to management and raises the strategic goal of 'management internationalization'.Talent advantage is a vital element of CMB's core competitiveness. On the way to the strategic goal of management internationalization, the most important step is the internationalization of HR management, which is based on mature management concepts, complete administrative system and advanced management techniques. As a result, to push forward internationalization of HR management, modern management techniques of foreign banks should be brought in and applied, and advanced HRIS (human resource information system) should be established.SAP ERP (including HR and financial system) was brought in and applied at CMB in 2003. This became a landmark in CMB's HR informatization construction, and an important measure in the internationalization, scientification and strategizing of HR management.Taking China Merchants Bank human resources management domain ERP project (SAP human resources management system) as an example, this article firstly analyzed China Merchants Bank human resources management strategy, its challenges and countermeasures, and illustrated human resources management system theory. Through to the analysis and the research of its human resources management system implementation frame, the entire process of the implementation, and the profound transformation which brings to China Merchants Bank human resources management domain, this article analyzed and discussed the implementation of advanced human resources management system could help HR department to promote strategic management capacity and finally promote the value of human resources management. This article also analyzed and discussed the ERP human resources management system successful implementation key factors, could provid some supply for reference about the implementation of ERP human resources management system to the enterprise at the human resources reforming stage.
