With deeply implement the whole strategy of the Shanghai International Shipping Center, big headway was made in port hardware construction. And since the Yangshan Deepwater Port was put into operation after completion, the port traffic of the Shanghai International Shipping Center was growing rapidly. Shanghai maintained its ranking as the largest freight port and the second place of in terms of container traffic in the world. However, although the hardware construction has been leaped into the front ranks of the world gradually, there is a long distance between Shanghai and the other main shipping centers in the world on software environment improvement of shipping service at the same time. So shipping culture is put on the agenda as an important content to software environment improvement of the Shanghai International Shipping Center.This thesis was consisted of six parts:The first part was introduction. Pointed out the purposes, meanings, thoughts and methods of the research briefly, and introduced the progress of shipping culture on theory or practice.The second part used the relative principle on organizing culture to define the concept of shipping culture of the Shanghai International Shipping Center, and analyzed the connotation, structure and position of shipping culture.The third part studied the current situation on shipping culture construction, through analyzing opportunities and challenges for development of shipping enterprises, and found out the existing problems.The forth part used comparative study methods to learn from Chinese and foreign materials about shipping culture in respect of strategies, spirits and carries.The fifth part centered on the objective of establishing the Shanghai International Shipping Center, put forward the suggestions to shipping culture development in respect of the guiding principle, core value, key task, security system, etc.The sixth part summarized and restated the main points of this thesis, and pointed out the insufficiencies so as to indicate directions in next deeper research.
