As a notable phenomenon in Mainland China, regional economic gap is observed by various estimations based on provincial and regional data. While as one of the regional economic growth factors, human resource is the perspective this thesis researches China's regional gap from. The aim of this paper is to explore the contribution of human resource to regional economy and regional gap.Regional economic gap in China is described in Chapter II followed by the discovery that inner-east regional gap and inter-regional gap is much more obvious than that of middle or east region. Regional human capital and the gap is described in Chapter III followed by the discovery that inner-west regional gap and inter-regional gap is much more larger than the others in terms of regional human capital. Some political hints thereby may be induced to narrow regional gaps.In Chapter IV, each region is defined as a group and use C-D with constant return of factors as model 1, effective labor as model 2, spilling-over human capital as model 3 to choose the appropriate economic growth model for individual region, and then to discover the impacting mechanism of human capital to inter-regional and inner-regional economic gap. For further study, growth models are derived to GDP per labor force, so as to observe the contribution of human capital level to regional gap.Conclusion and suggestion are derived from above in Chapter V. To narrow the regional economic gap, with accordance of this paper, economic development of middle and west region should be focused on so as to reduce inter-region gap; Economic gap within east region may be relieved by increasing economic development in provinces that lag in GDP per capita. To narrow the regional human capital gap, the improvement of west regional level comes first. The improvement of Human capital level in Tibet may narrow the gap in west region. Since the mechanism of human capital to inter- and inner-regional economical gap comes clear, active regional policy, human capital policy and a set of policies aimed at the transformation of economic growth model are feasible and effective methods for narrowing regional gap. |
