With the strengthening of people's environmental awareness, the promoting with mandatory environmental legislation and regulations by governments around the world, as well as enterprises'pursuit of economic efficiency, reverse logistics is being paid more and more attention. The implementation of reverse logistics management, not only can reduce production costs and improve customer satisfaction, but also improve product design and production, enhance the competitiveness of the supply chain, and more importantly, conserve resources, protect the environment in order to achieve sustainable improvement. Among all the decisions necessary in the implementation of Reverse Logistics Management, the choice of operation mode is one of the most important and basic decisions. Therefore, how to choose a scientific and rational reverse logistics operation mode in a supply chain has become the main purpose of this article. In this paper, qualitative analysis, quantitative comparison and case study are all used to study on the reverse logistics operation mode in the supply chain environment. First of all, the drivers of enterprises'implementation of Reverse Logistics Management is simply analyzed, and then the definition, characteristics and classification of reverse logistics are introduced; On this basis, the article analyzes the decision-making process of reverse logistics management in a supply chain, pointing out the status of operation mode selection. Later in this article, a qualitative analysis is carried on to compare the strengths, weaknesses and use of different types of operation modes of on reverse logistics enterprises, and the main factors that need to be considered in the choice of operation mode are discussed. In the next chapter, we consider a simple supply chain composed of a single manufacturer and single retailer, and analyze which of the three different operation modes should be the most profitable choice of manufacturers, furthermore the rationality of manufacturer's choice is discussed, by showing whether the overall profit of the supply chain is maximized.
