North Jiangsu Province Under Government-led Poverty Alleviation Models

It has been the second year since the provincial government proposed the plan of getting rid of absolute poverty and implementing the poverty alleviation within 3 to 5 years. In the mean while, this year is a crucial junction for the work of poverty alleviation and development in north area of Jiangsu to step into the stage of aiding the poor. In recent years, leaderships at all levels of government have been seriously implementing the "poverty alleviation and development in Jiangsu Province of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan" and "Provincial Government views on the organization and implementation of poverty alleviation project", thus the work of poverty alleviation and development in rural areas of the north of Jiangsu province has achieved some feats. However, there are still lots of inadequacies.Poverty alleviation and development project is a systematic project, involving many fields of society. And the factors of causing poverty may vary from economic and social environment of different the regions. Therefore, rational choice, integration and continuously adjust to the characteristics of local development seem particularly important in the process of poverty alleviation and development of poor areas.This thesis comprehensively considers the history and current status of the work of poverty alleviation in the north of Jiangsu province, and taking Sihong County Area Southwest as the sample, deeply studies the existing poverty alleviation model in the north area of Jiangsu province, aiming to establish a practical and functional model system to help the poor. The new model system should be able to actually help to improve effectiveness of poverty alleviation work of rural the north area of Jiangsu province and meet the needs of the poor, at the same time it can adapt to the needs of the development of new era as well, and ultimately in favor of the development of the Jiangsu north area.
