Empirical Research On Poverty Alleviation Effects Based On Anti-poverty Models In Tongwei County Of Gansu Province

Countries with various stages in economic and social development are all seeking poverty eradication as their lasting goal and common belief. China, the most populous developing country, is one of the countries with the most severe poverty in the world. Therefore, to resolve the poverty issues is an inevitable pathway to build a prosperous and harmonious socialist society.Poverty in China is dominated in the western regions. However, the poverty in western regions is dominated in rural areas. Tongwei County in Gansu Province as one of the poorest areas in the western poverty region holds very high proportion of rural poor in such backward economic and social development. In recent years, with the deepening of pro-poor policies and the evolution of poverty alleviation and development process, local rural poverty alleviation and development models and its efficiency are undergoing significant changes. Based upon the effect on poverty alleviation and development, it has a very important practical significance for understanding Gansu rural poverty, thereby effectively solves the poverty issues.The paper primarily introduced related theories and current domestic and international research about poverty and anti-poverty as a theoretical base for this study. In addition, it sorted out the summary of current poverty status in Tongwei and anti-poverty practices. And then it described and analyzed the effectiveness of the local poverty alleviation models with their strengths, weaknesses and applications. Furthermore, it made an empirical analysis on efficiency of poverty alleviation and development based on the local poverty alleviation models to identify the impact on effects of poverty alleviation and development. Finally, it tried to make recommendations countermeasures for poverty-alleviation efficiency in rural Gansu Province.
