Shanxi Tourism Economic Differences And The Spatial Development Pattern Research

Shanxi is an important energy base in China. Because of the limited coal resources and coal industry's negative effect on the environment, changing the mode of economic growth in Shanxi province is imperative. For a wealth of tourism resources in Shanxi province, the tourism industry naturally became important entry points for industrial transformation. Therefore, the development of the tourism industry has great significance to the future development of Shanxi province. The main purpose of this paper was that by understanding and researching the differences and evolution of the tourism economy in Shanxi, then, tried to look for an opportunity in the regional differences to find suitable spatial development patterns.Regional economic differences and regional spatial development patterns were two important aspects of the study in regional development, but also two hot spots in regional tourism study. At present, the economic disparities of regional tourism and spatial patterns of tourism development were carried out respectively, leading to lack of the necessary basis in the proposed regional development patterns and lack of the deep drive in the study of tourism economy's differences. Therefore, this article attempted to combine the two to give the research of regional economic disparities a more profound significance, and enrich the base of tourism spatial patterns. Specifically, In this paper, took 11 cities of Shanxi province as the research objects, and used urban geography, economic geography, tourism economic and other related theories. First of all, based the 1996-2006 statistical datas, built the tourism economic development index of Shanxi province, using standard deviation and coefficient of variation to analyze the evolution process. Then, did a preliminary study about the problems of the current pattern of Shanxi'tourism economic space and proposed some ideas on coordinated development. Finally, based on the front analysis, made a detailed exposition on the future pattern of Shanxi' tourism economic space.In this paper, the main conclusions as follows:(1)Through the the calculations of standard deviation and coefficient of variation, found that absolute differences and relative differences were declined with fluctuations between 1996-2006, but the relative differences'decline was obvious in the rate of change. Data analysis showed that when the standard deviation's value was 0.19, the index of Shanxi tourism economy were in the fastest-growing and able to get the most output.(2)The evolution of Shanxi tourism economy'spatial pattern showed the following characteristics: maintained the relatively lower balanced pattern overall, and adjustments have been made in someparts between 1996-2006.(3)The evolution of Shanxi tourism economy 'spatial pattern was the result of the interaction of thethree:tourism supply systems, tourism demand system and tourism support system.(4)Curent Shanxi tourism economy'spatial pattern clearly showed the characteristics of level indevelopment process. Eleven cities can be divided into three different developmental levels.Through the analysis of the current pattern found that there were some problems: the developpedcity of tourism economy can not drive fully the surrounding regions, strong blindness investment intourism facilities and the lack of adequate tourism cooperation among the geographic adjacent cities.In view of the above questions, from the point of balance individual city's tourism economic benefits,proposed three countermeasures, including tourism products, tourism policy and shared tourismfacilities.(5)Based on the overview of tourism spatial patterns and the previous analysis of tourism economicdifferences, thought that"growth pole" is a suitable model for Shanxi tourism economy. Finally,should take measures to strengthen the function of tourism center of Taiyuan and focus on thedevelopment of Datong and Yuncheng tourism economy to promote the formation of "tourismgrowth pole" in Shanxi.The progress and innovation points of this paper are as follows:(1)From the research methods, firstly, using multi-indicators to represent the level of economic development of tourism. Indicators contained the main aspects of tourism economy, they can be more objective and comprehensive to reflect of the level of economic development of tourism. Secondly, using the regional differences methods in economics and the relevant theory in urban geography to show the time and spatial characteristics in the evolution of the tourism economy differences.(2)From the content (results), on the basis of grasping the tourism economy difference, proposed a suitable space pattern of Shanxi—tourism growth pole.
