As tourism activities gradually become a popular way of life, the past years see the rapid development of the tourism industry, the sunrise industry of the 21st century. The growing competition makes the competitiveness of the tourism a focus of current research. Scenic spot is the geographical synthesis, based on the beauty of natural andscape and infiltrated with the beauty of humanistic landscape. It comprises not only the typical natural landscape, but also the valuable historical cultural relics and remains, which is the essence of China's magnificent mountains and rivers, and a gem of the our nation. As the primary component of tourism development, it faces competition as well. But so far, most research in the field has concentrated on natural resources, protection and development ,and sustainable development of it, etc. The competitiveness of tourismis is rarely touched. On the basis of literatures on related theories, a more comprehensive in-depth study on the competiveness of scenic spot is made in this paper, applying management, tourism, statistics, and other multi-disciplinary knowledge, with resort to research methods such as the combination of theory and practice, statistical analysis, etc. First, a systematic analysis of the composition and origin of tourism competitiveness is performed. These influencing factors are divided into three categories: core elements, supporting elements and security elements due to their importance. Then, the evaluation system of tourism competitiveness is established on the basis of above-mentioned study. Employing the method of fuzzy evaluation the strengths and weaknesses of scenic spot can be determined. Finally, this paper cites Nanyue Mountain as an instance to test and verify the research findings. Some suggestions are put forward to increase the competitive edge of Nanyue Mountain and to provide some useful reference for Wuyue's joint application for world cultural heritage.
