Fractal theory has been widely used in the calculation and evaluation of transportation networks.But all the time,nobody has argument out the relation between translation network and regional economy .That is to say,there is no basis for evaluation and optimization of road network to promote the development of economy based for fractal theory . In the paper the simplified calculation method of Hausdorff dimension of fractal theory combining with GIS technology is used to measure fractal dimensions of regional road network, and correspond it with economic index successfully,and argument out that fractal dimensions of road network and the economic indicators are closely correlative , and provide theoretical basis for optimization of road network based for fractal theory ,consequently ,to promote balanced development of regional economy. At the same time it has important practical significance for enhancing composite index of regional economy.In this paper,based on 17 city regions in Anhui Province as the research object and ArcGIS technology platform the author measured fractal dimension of different levels over each city- regions'highroad network .For comprehensive evaluation to coverage patterns of the roads in various areas the author look upon weight dimension and main stem dimension as scare criterion .The author establish a set of guideline system to calculate economic situation of 17 city regions and get comprehensive economic exponents with SPSS ,and perform correlation analysis between fractal dimention and it .The study educe some conclusions through work above :(1) Level of fractal dimension is closely related to economic indicators .According to relation of transportation and economic development, they are the interactive relationship. Economic development promotes the improvement of road fractal dimensions. Instead, increasing highway fractal dimensions will accelerate the pace of the economy.(2) Dimensions of the total highway can not evaluate the coverage degree of the regional road. It contains more fractal dimensions of low highway. It goes without saying; fractal dimensions of low grade roads has very limited function to economic development.(3) Weight dimension which was first proposed and stem route dimension solve more reasonablly the strange phenomenon which runs counter between the entire road fractal dimension and the economic indicators . It is able to compare better, to some extent, a region with another region in coverage patterns .Innovation points are as follows: (1)The auther analyze more roundly a variety of factors which impact on the fractal dimension .So the paper exhibit profoundly and specificly complexity that fractal theory is applied to evaluation of the transport network .(2)Whereas total dimension of regional roads does not reflect the economic composite Index,the author propose a "weight dimension" concept. fully taking into account the high-grade highway impacting on economic development, on the basis of road-traffic capacity the auther calculated the weight of each grade highways .In the end,add them and average . The weight dimension better reflects compositive fractal dimensions of road network.(3)Road network area is one of the basic elements which affect the fractal dimensions .Thus the auther classfy different research areas in the right of road network area to further revealed correlation between the weight dimension and the composite index of economic.
