Chinese Exports Of Agricultural Products Research. Green Barriers Conditions

With global trade liberalization, tariff barriers and traditional non-tariff barriers are being gradually reduced, while some new trade barriers have been settled to agricultural trade that have special significance by some countries. In such circumstances, green barriers, which are on the grounds of protecting natural resources, ecological environment, human health, have more influences on international trade of agricultural products. In recent years, China's exports of agricultural products have encountered green barriers with increasing frequency, which lead to great declination of exports competitiveness for China's agricultural and tremendous economic losses. In this context, by means of a combination of theoretical research and empirical research, this paper aims to actively explore the effects of green barriers on China's agricultural products exports and finally find countermeasures to break green barriers for our agricultural products exports, which is of great significance to achieve the sustainable development for China's agricultural trade.First of all, this paper theoretically analyzes green barrier's causes and impacts on the exporter's foreign trade. Second, it introduces the development of China's agricultural trade in recent years and the situation that China's agricultural exports encounter green barriers of foreign countries as well as its international and domestic reasons. In the short run, green barriers have brought adverse impact on China's exports of agricultural products; while in the long term, green barriers will help to enhance techniques of China's agricultural production, improve ecological environment and realize sustainable development. Third, it puts forward countermeasures and proposals for China's agricultural exports to break through green barriers. The suggestions presented in this paper are a complete system, in which government, industries and enterprises not only have their own position and role, but also form a whole to cooperate each other to take systematic and strategic actions. Finally, the paper introduces the successful experience of breaking green barriers for government and businesses by a real and specific case.
