Study Of The Relationship Between Coal Consumption And Economic Growth

As the material foundation of social development,energy plays an important role in human life and production.It is one of the most important input factors in economic growth, and it is the power and raw materials of production and living.Coal is the most important energy factor in Shaanxi, and the role in economic growth can not be ignored.Coal consumption is a cause of economic growth, high consumption of coal is not only meeting the needs of production and life, but also promoted the development of coal industry in Shaanxi Province, now the coal industry become one of the pillar industries in Shaanxi.Economic growth can promote a change in coal consumption,the rapid economic development and the changes of industrial structure, need to increase coal consumption.At present,the rapid economic development in Shaanxi Province need more and more coal and other energy,but the reserves of the coal are decling,which requires us pay more attention to sustainable development in order to solve the contradiction between supply and demand, and dealing with economic and coal energy, environment relationship in the foundation of sustained economic growth.The article based on 29 year of Shaanxi 1980-2008 time series data,analysis the relationship of coal consumption and economic growth,and calculate the contribution of coal consumption to economic growth in Shaanxi Province.According to the analysis,we can concluded that there is a long-term cointegration between coal consumption and economic growth in Shaanxi Province,and the results of Granger causality test is that there is a one-waycausal relationship between coal consumption and economic growth,economic growth is the reason for the growth of coal consumption.The contribution of coal consumption to economic growth is much higher than other energy sources in Shaanxi Province.According to the findings,in the period of time,it can not change the energy consumption structure which is major in the coal consumption in Shaanxi Province.Due to the high pollution and high cosumption,the role of coal consumption in promoting economic growth is not obvious in Shaanxi Province.Now we should develop the coal resources reasonable and adhere to sustainable development.After a certain period to pursuit of one-side GDP growth,we should change it and pursuit of the "Green GDP".
