The Adjustment Of Industrial Structure In China, From The Perspective Of Energy Consumption

Since the reform and opening up policy, China's economy has made great progress, while China's energy consumption also rises quickly. When the emerging industry and the new energy has not completely replace the traditional industry and the traditional energy, economic growth really needs a lot of energy consumption, especially in China and other developing countries whose traditional industries amount a large proportion and their energy consumption growth rate and size can not be underestimated. However, considering the non-renewable energy and the pressure on the environment, sustainable economic development in China must be included in the framework of energy constraint. In the specific analysis, we can not just focus on the apparent connection between economic growth and energy consumption, but also should pay attention to the industrial structure which plays important roles between economic growth and energy consumption. Thus to analyzes the adjustment of industrial structure under energy constraints is of important theoretical and practical significance.This paper first analyzes the relationship among economic growth, energy consumption and industrial structure, and verifies the important role of the industrial structure between economic growth and energy consumption. Subsequently this paper analyzes the constraints faced by energy consumption, which primarily reflects three aspects:the non-renewable energy, high-import dependence and environmental pressure, then further emphasizes the importance and urgency of the adjustment of industrial structure. In this background, this paper analyzes the experience of industrial restructuring of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and makes international comparison of the present status of industrial structure with other countries, figures out the general rules and influence factors of industrial structure. Additionally, this article also makes reference of the concept of entropy to define industrial diversification index, further verifies the upgrading of the industrial structure make contribution to the economic growth.Finally, based on the analysis above, the paper makes the following major conclusions:(1) the industrial structure is the bond between the economic growth and energy consumption; (2) the development of tertiary industry is important to upgrade the industrial structure; (3) the international experience tells us to understand the changes of industrial structure and to take advantage of the rule. At last the paper tries to put forward the following suggestions:(1) coordinate governmental and market, jointly promote industrial upgrading; (2) speed up technological progress and cultivate new industry; (3) respect the rule of industrial structure adjustment, seize the opportunities of the international division of labor; (4) develop competitive and advantageous industries; (5) develop new energy and promote the diversification of the energy structure.
