| Energy is a critical material to ensure the normal operation of human production and life. With the development of society, there has been a close relationship between energy and economy.Energy consumption promotes economic growth, and economic growth brings about the improvement of technology to enhance energy utilization and efficiency. In recent years, with the expansion of economy in Tianjin, energy consumption and efficiency improves significantly. As a strong support for economic growth, energy has a strategic significance to the development of Tianjin. Therefore the research on the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth has a theoretical and practical significance, which will help Tianjin to carry out energy-saving work and realize the sustainable development of economy and society.Base on the above background and purpose, firstly,we introduce the current situation of energy consumption and economic growth in Tianjin.Secondly,we apply Co-integration theory, error correction model and Granger causality test to study the relationship between this two variables. The results show that there’s a long-term equilibrium relationship and bi-directional causality between energy consumption and economic growth in Tianjin.Under the effect of error correction mechanism,no matter how the two fluctuate in short time, the equilibrium will always be there in long term.Thirdly,we analyze the relevance between energy consumption and industrial structure. Both of the change of industrial structure and the improvement of energy efficiency are beneficial to weaken the economy’s dependence on energy consumption. The main cause to decline Tianjin’s energy consumption intensity is the energy-saving in secondary industry.Fourthly, based on the GRA,we research on the relationship between energy consumption structure and economic growth. The consumption of coal, crude oil, electricity, and especially natural gas are positive correlate with economic growth. Finally,we put forward several suggestions, hoping that Tianjin will implement energy-saving policy effectively and achieve the sustainable development of economic growth and energy consumption. |
