Five Internal Organs Yu Catgut Implantation Combined With The Observation Of The Efficacy Of Paroxetine In The Treatment Of Depression And Patients With The P300

Objective This thesis focuses on the effects of the simple catgut implantation at the shu-points of the five organs combined with paroxetine on patients with depression, especially on their auditory cognitive potential P300 and on HAMD. Thus, it aims to provide patients with a new, safe, convenient and effective treatment combining Chinese and Western medicine.Methods 70 patients are selected, including outpatients and inpatients. They have randomly been divided into the group of catgut implantation at the shu-points of the five organs combined with paroxetine and the group only with paroxetine (12 cases lost later). Patients in the paroxetine group have taken paroxetine 20mg orally every morning after getting up for 6 weeks; while acupoints are selected for patients in the other group, which includes Hsinshu at two sides, Fei shu, Pi shu, Kan shu and Shen shu. And Tsusanli is also selected for the asthenia syndrome, Fenglong for sthenia syndrome. Implantation once a week, and 6 times continuously. And the patients also take paroxetine for the same amount. All patients have taken the assessment of P300 and HAMD pre- and post-treatment, altogether 2 times; and all of them have been assessed with SERS after one-week treatment and after six-week treatment, at a total of 2 times.Results①Patients'HAMD points, P300 latency and SERS all have been improved more significantly than pre-treatment in the two groups (P<0.01);②Comparing the HAMD points and SERS post-treatment, the group with both the catgut implantation and paroxetine is excels more than the control group (P<0.01); and comparing patients'P300 latency in these two group, the group with both the catgut implantation and paroxetine is significantly better than the control group (P<0.05);③As to the patients'P300 amplitude, there is no significant differences in the comparison done within each group pre- and post-treatment and in the comparison done post-treatment between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion①The curative effect of the paroxetine group and the group with both the catgut implantation and paroxetine on depression are both good;②The curative effect of the group with both the catgut implantation and paroxetine excels that of the group with paroxetine only, and the treatment is safe, convenient and effective;③P300 latency becoming long is the mark of state of depression, and P300 amplitude seems no special significance; P300, as the electrophysiological evidence, is one of the objective evaluation indexes of the curative effect of depression treatment.
