Fleabane Pharmacognosy

The traditional Chinese medicine "Erigerontis" is Erigeron breviscapus (Vant.) Hand-Mazz. of Erigeron L. . The agents of Erigerontis show good effect on paralysis of limbs that caused by cerebral vascular accident. In this dissertation, pharmacognosy on E. breviscapus was studied. The main results are shown as following:1.Review on chemical constituents, pharmacy and clinic research of E. breviscapus was made.2.Microscopic characteristics of E. breviscapus were studied and micrographs of its root, stem and leaf transection were drawn at first time.3.Chemical constituents of E. breviscapus were studied. Twelve compounds were isolated from the extraction of E. breviscapus, of which 11 compounds were identified based on physicochemical properties and spectral data. It was the first time that compound EBV (kaempferol) and compound EB-VII(quercetin) were isolated from F. breviscapus and compound EB-XI (plamitic acid) was isolated from the genus.4.The method of determining the content of EB-I (4-hydroxyscutellarin-7-0- β-D-glucuronide) in the crude drug by HPLC was developed. The contents of EB-I in the under-ground part and upground part of E. breviscapus were determined and the distribution of EB-I in different parts of E. breviscapus was known.25.The method of extracting EB-I from E. breviscapus was optimized by orthogonal design experiment.6.A new method of separating EB-J from E. breviscapus was found.
