Objective:To observe the effect of Yixin Jiangya Extract (YXJE)on left ventricular diastolic patients of senile hypertension with Qi-Deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. Methods: Sixty-seven patients were randomly divided into two groups. 37 patients in the treated group treated with YXJH and 30 patients in the control group treated with nifidepine . Doppler echocardiography and Radioimmunoassay was used to examine the level of LVDF, OP, HRH before and after treatment in the two groups. Results: After treatment, LVDF, OP and HRH were improved significantly in treated group than that before treatment. (p<0. 05, p<0.01). OP and HRH were improved significantly in the treated group than that in the control group in comparing after treatment. (p<0.05, p<0.01). LVDF was significantly improved in both groups after treatment but with no significant difference between them. conclusion: The effects of YXJE on LVDF. OP,' HRH in aged patients were better than that of nifidepine . These findings indicated that the mechanisms of activation and improvement were correlated with decreasing the level of angiotention II , anti-oxygen tree radicals, lowering insulin resistance, improving hemorheology, but other mechanisms may also exist.
