Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a common disease in the childbearing-aged women.In this thesis,the recent development of PMS in Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as in Western medicine are expounded.The etiology development in Western medicine and the treatment in the Chinese medicine are especially introduced.After that,the author gives some opinions about it.There are 3 points as following:(1) Although the different methods usded in studying PMS such as disease symptom and syndrome,the usually-used representative prescription is modified ease powder which can soothe the Liver and regulate Qi circulation.It shows the depression of liver-qi is the popular pathogenesis. (2) The different treatment methods show the disease has already been far beyond the range of gynecology and involved other courses on medicine and social science. (3) In the clinical and animal model study,some objective indicators which represent depression of the liver-qi of PMS are gotten.lt shows objective in studying PMS.
