Objective: By establishing the mices model of liver injuries by D-aminogalactose. To evaluate the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Fas proteins levels in response to the Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. Further more , to investigate the influence and mechanism of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi on apoptosis of hepatic cell. Methods: The experiments were performed on 30 mices which were randomized into five groups—blank control group, model control group, crude herbs groups (low-dose group and high-dose group) and alcoholic processing herbs group. Immunohistochemical SABC method was applied to detect the levels of Bax, Bcl-2 and Fas proteins. Meanwhile, a comparative study of pathologic picture was performed by light microscopy. Results: In all herbs groups, Bax protein levels increased. In high-dose crude herbs group , Bax protein level and ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 protein showed an obvious increase. Fas protein leveis increased in crude herbs groups, but there was no statistical significance between high-dose and low-dose group. In alcoholic processing herbs group, the level of Bcl-2 increased and Fas protein level decreased. Conclusion: Crude Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi could aggravate the injuries of hepatic cell by D-aminogalactose. The mechanisms are might due to affecting the expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and Fas protein.
