The rhizome of Belamcanda Chinensis (L.)DC that belongs to Iridacea is recorded in the Pharmacopecia of People's Republic of China (ed. 2005). It has been used in Chinese herbs for the treatment of antitussive, antiinflammatory and expectorant. It was used as a traditional medicine not only in China, but also in Korea and Japan. It has been studied in many countries, especially in Japan, on its pharmacological effects. From the results, the innate bases of its clinical effects are clarified further more, according to which, people developed many new medicines and health foods. Those speak well for its exact effects, and good prospects, so it is worthy of doing further studies on it. The author has investigated the chemical constitutes. The rhizome of Belamcanda Chinensis (L.) DC is rich in isoflavonoids, and they have many pharmacological effects. So we studied the extraction process for the total flavonoids of it first. The optimum process was selected with orthogonal design. In orthogonal tests, five factors were evaluated which were ethanol concentration, ethanol volumes, diameter of drug powder, reflux time and times. The content of total flavonoids was determined by UV-spectrophotometry. And we had its best extraction process, according to which we extracted the rhizome of Belamcanda Chinensis (L.) DC.13 compounds were isolated with silica gel, polyamide and recrystallization from the extraction. On the basis of analysis of NMR data and measuring of physicochemical characters, 11 chemical structures were elucidated as dichotomitin (1), daucosterol (2), iridin (3), tectorigenin (4), tectoridin (5), hispidulin (6), irisflorentin (7), irilin D (8) , resveratrol (9), uracil (10), uridine (11), respectively. Of all these compounds, compound 10,11 were isolated for the first time from Belamcanda.
