Purpose: To sum up the data about the main symptom and acupunctureprescriptions of Xi-Connecting Point in the medical literature from ancient to modern, then concluded the characteristics of indication and principle and regulation of acupoint compatibility.Material and method: Searched 703 ancient books about acupuncture of 1930before, 152books involving the concerned matter are included, and the articles published on Chinese medical magazines, about358articles recording the main symptom of Xi-Connecting Point are included. Built a data-base, input the literature data and counted the appearance frequency of the main symptom and acupoint compatibility, then concluded the characteristics of indication and principle and regulation of acupoint compatibility.Results: Built a data-base, input the literature data and counted the appearancefrequency of the main symptom and acupoint compatibility. As a result, the acupuncturists select the xi-Connecting Point acupoint mainly of treating the disease of the meridian which it belongs to, and internal-external meridian. Xi-Connecting Point could treat the disease of the qi-meridian, and something too hard to cure. The Xi-Connecting Poin has various methods of acupoint compatibility. The commonly used ones are briefly introduced below: compatibility ofxi and wu-shu acupoints, compatibility of xiand yuan acupoints, compatibility of the xi and bamai acupoints, and someothers.Conclusion: Ancient and modern literature through the collation and analysisof the study, summed up the chief characteristics of Xi-Connecting point, the law of compatibility.
