Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most common and the most severe microvascular complications, which is characterized by early slight increase in urinary albumin excretion (microalbuminuria), and gradually progressed to macroalbuminuria and serum creatinine rise, eventually occur renal failure, requiring dialysis or kidney transplant, and is a common reason which results in end stage renal disease.Professor Yu Shijia has been clinical work nearly 30 years, has accumulated rich clinical experience, who specializes in organic combination theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine with modern medical knowledge, and emphasizes on combination treatment of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in different stages of the disease, especially in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy, advocates to develop the strong points and avoid the weak points, in combination treatment of traditional Chinese and Western medicine.Based on TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment determination, Professor Yu considers that DN in the Qi and Yin Deficiency gradually developed into yin and yang Deficiency, at the same time, blood stasis has always been throughout the disease, wet muddy course within the stop is a stage in progress.In traditional Chinese medicine, it divides DN into four syndromes, according to treatment determination based on syndrome differentiation.
