The thesis takes the tombs of Hongshan culture of the Neolithic Age found in Liaoning district as the study object. There are nearly 90 tombs of Hongshan culture have been excavated in this area, till now, 47 of them have been published. This dissertation is composed by six sections:Chapter one:introduction. Introduce about the history of discoveries and researches briefly. In this part, the author shortly summarizes the discoveries and researches on the tombs of Hongshan culture in the Neolithic Age.Chapter two:research on the tomb classifications. The writer first collect and classify the tombs found in every remains of this area, and then according to the tombs structures and burial equipments'differences of Honshan culture, the author divides the tombs into four kinds. In addition, the author also separately analyses and concludes the features of each kind of tombs.Chapter three:research on tombs by stages. The tombs were divided into three stages, according to the layer's relationship and the construction's differences between different periods of the tombs, in addition the break and overlying of them.Chapter four:research on funeral objects. In order to disscuss the rela-tionship between the tombs'form and funeral objects, classified the funeral objects into jade, pottery and stone implements in the basis of the function of the funeral objects.Chapter five:research on the social conditions reflects by the tombs. This section is mainly discuss the social conditions at that time from three question—the emerging of the social division of labour, class differentiation and religion.Chapter six:research on the differences of the Hongshan culture between Liaoning province and other district. Collect and classify the tombs found in Neimenggu province, and divide the tombs into various kinds of structures, compare these districts with funerary utensils and funeral objects. Finally, we get the regional characteristics of the graves in the Hongshan culture.
