During Anti-Japanese war, Chinese peasants had characteristics, which were distinct from other periods and regions in the view of Chinese intellectuals of Liberated Areas. This thesis is basic on literary circles in the period of Anti-Japanese war, in order to study on the peasants from the point view of intellectuals in Liberated Areas. In chapter 1, the thesis'perspective is from Anti-Japanese war. In Liberated Areas, the intellectuals investigated the influences of the peasants in the war was mainly from three aspects:effect, attitude and action. The intellectuals realized that peasants not only joined in the resisting activities against Japan, but also changed their ideas, habits and lifestyle. In chapter 2, the thesis'perspective is from politics. Some intellectuals discovered that peasants supported the government of Liberated Areas, joined in anti-feudal movement and participated in politics. In chapter 3, the thesis'perspective is from economy production. Intellectuals in Liberated Areas realized that many labour heroes emerged from peasants and they also created new economic society. In chapter 4, the thesis'perspective is from culture. Intellectuals in Liberated Areas realized that literature should served peasants. And intellectuals realized that they should learn from peasants in literary creation. They also realized peasants'aspiration of culture and humanity liberation. And most importantly, intellectuals found that peasants were able to become creators and organizers of culture. In chapter 5, the thesis'perspective is from daily life. Intellectuals realized that peasants'morality, values, attitude and customs of life experienced new changes. Peasants changed the old marriage view and family values. And they did away with superstitions and other bad habits gradually. Intellectuals saw the spirit of optimism, enterprise, and struggle. In chapter 6,. the thesis sums up some characteristics of peasants in the view of Chinese intellectuals in Liberated Areas:Intellectuals regarded peasants with new perspective. Intellectuals and peasants treated each other as equals. Intellectuals realized peasants had immense strength. But with the appearance of "heroes", intellectuals played down themselves. The thesis analyzed reasons which caused these characteristics:the needing of the war, the change of the living environment of intellectuals, the policy guidance of the Communist Party of China and the changes of peasants. A noticeable phenomenon should be noticed in this chapter that the positions of intellectuals and peasants were reversed in the view of intellectuals in Liberated Areas. The thesis doesn't think that the phenomenon means intellectuals giving up the Enlightenment of peasants. Intellectuals changed their method, set a "healthy-example" for peasants and taught them to learn from the "healthy-example". They achieved the goal of Enlightenment of peasants by this way. To an agricultural country and facing unprecedented national crisis, the change of the way of Enlightenment is an inevitable choice. Intellectuals' realization of peasants was good for mobilization of peasants during Anti-Japanese war. But because the perspective of intellectuals didn't change after the foundation of People's Republic of China, it caused a hidden danger of intellectuals'tragedies in the Cultural Revolution.
