Discussion On Dai Xi's " Four Beautiful " Concept

Dai xi's"four beauties"is an aesthetic concept with extraordinary theory research value, which is favored by many ancient and modern Chinese literati and painters. Based on the in-depth research of the concept"leisure, tranquility, pedestrianism and profundity", the intrinsic connotations of the"four beauties"concept were discussed in this dissertation. Then a comprehensive analysis on the distinctions and relations between"four beauties"were illustrated, focusing on four aspects i.e. the artist's subjective self-cultivation, the art performance of picture, the human life and the art. Meanwhile a reasonable understanding with a development perspective on the"four beauties"concept at present was explored, combining with the artist's state of modern mind and contemporary art context. It is of important significance for the creation of today's Chinese painting.
