This paper takes《10 Level Chinese》as a case study to examine the instillation of the Chinese culture in the textbooks of studying Chinese as a second language. By investigation and reasoning, it comes to the conclusion that language teaching and culture instillation need to be combined in the design of textbooks. To be more specific, the imported culture should be more consistent with students'learning needs, cultural elements need to work closely with the cultural phenomenon, and the cultural instillation methods need to comply with the norms of cultural import in language learning. Ultimately, teachers can better use the cultural elements in the textbook to enhance language teaching. This paper is mainly practice-based. It combines theoretical analysis and questionnaires to conduct in-depth survey of all the cultural elements in《10 Level Chinese》. It is hoped that the case study could give some insights into and suggestions for future design of textbooks, especially how the cultural instillation could enhance language teaching. |
