Wang Yao Modern Academic Thinking Research

Wang Yao was firstly known in the field of Chinese literary history for his History and Anthology of Chinese Anciently Literature. After the founding of PRC, he drew his attention to studying Chinese modern literary history, which contributes to forming the base for the subject of Chinese modern literary. Meanwhile, his study on Lu Xun and the proposition of Academic History he presented in the 1980s play important parts in his academic career.In the history of academic history development in the 20th century , academic study tended to wander between pure academy and politics because of the influence of political movement and eventually flung off all restraints of politics to be independent. What's more, individual intellects that are affected by inner political complex are trapped in the confusion of politics and academy. In this aspect, Wang Yao's study on modern literary history, on Lu Xun and on academic history offers a typical case. After the founding of PRC, Wang Yao was delegated as one of members of Chinese Modern Literature History Textbook Guideline Team. He was indecisive between politics and academy, which led to his unstable thought standpoint. And his Draft on New Chinese Literary History was the representative of this period. On the other hand, Wang Yao has distinct explanation to Lu Xun's image in different historical stage. Although he presented the subject of Academic History in the 80s, the subject of Modernization Process of Chinese Literature Study, which expressed his consciousness of Academic Precognition, yet his preference to the politics affected his study mood, which was a pity in his academic career.This dissertation aims to explore the influence of individual character and political complex on Wang Yao's academic career through Straightening out his study object and achievement as well as the shift of study and the concerning causes, on which thinking over his inspiration on academic to future generation is based. Besides, it's necessary to evaluate Wang Yao's influence on 100-year academic developing correctly.
