Chinese textbooks is an important factor of Chinese language teaching. Frequency of word recurrence is one of the important indicators to measure textbooks, necessary frequency of word recurrence is necessary to ensure that students learning Chinese.With "New Concept English" and "New Practical Chinese Reader", this paper focuses on the the similarities and differences about the frequency of word recurrence in the two books. This paper is divided into five parts:ⅰ.Introduction, mainly on the research focuses on the circumstances and conditions of this study.ⅱ.The classification of Chinese textbooks, mainly on the analysis from two perspectives, the comprehensive textbooks and sub-skill textbooks.ⅲ. The introduction and evaluation of the feedback in the two books of "New Concept English" and "New Practical Chinese Reader".ⅳ. The analysis of the frequency of word recurrence in the two textbooks and the comparative study within the specific differences.ⅴ.Summary and the recommendations of Chinese textbooks.Through the five-part analysis and summary, we found both two textbooks are not very optimistic in the frequency of word recurrence. However, two textbooks have their own different characteristics because of the different characteristics of the two languages and the arrangements on the compilation of textbooks.
