On Luanzhou Kaiping Mines Company's Consolidated

The combination of the Luamzhou Mining Business Company and the Kaip- ing Mining Business Company (Luan ai combination in the following)is an es- sential event occurring in the Chinese modern economc history at the beginning of the 20th century. The previous academic circles always gave their critics on the event from the angle of the foreign monopoly capital invasion,holding that it acts as the Chinese national capital annexation to the foreign monopoly capital.That is, Kaiping Company annexes Luanzhou Company.Jn recent years ,some scholars gave the new views on it,by different degrees,confirming some positive roles of Luan ai combination on the development of the Chinese economy and the repossession of the profits and rights. The author, on the basis of the achieve- ments given by the previous scholars,does a further study about it,holding that the combination of Luan ai should not be considered simply as Luanzhou Company annexation to Kaiping Company,instead,it results from Kai and Luan starting from their own economic interests,diminishing competition and the conciliating co xistence.That is necessary for Luanzho Company who lies in the comparatively disadvantageous position keeps the existence and de- velopment of Luan Mine, protects and repossesses some national profits and rights,and in some sense, resists the invasion of the foreign monopoly capital.
