The Middle Ancient times is a very important period in the history of Chinese development. However, the vocabulary study of this period is not satisfactory. The drastic change of the society, the propagation of Buddhism, the fusion and development of culture, the changes in ideology as well as the emergence of new things, made a boom of new words. Thus, it is a challenging task to study the new words of this period.The Chinese version of Buddhism scripture is a mode collection of Chinese works of the Middle Ancient times. Tt has the following features: 1. Abundant oral words. 2. Abundant works. 3. Wide-ranging base of human society. Therefore, the Chinese version of Buddhism scripture is of great value to the vocabulary study of the middle ancient Chinese."Za Baozang ling" is a representative works which reflects the language facts of Beiwei period. In this article, we have investigated the new words in it, especially the words that are not included in The Advanced Chinese Dictionary. Some of these words are exempt from Buddhism Dictionary, the others are not properly explained. This article may contribute some valuable materials to the vocabulary research of the Middle Ancient times as well as the complation of Chinese dictionary.
