Two-syllable Word. "peace" Study

The more important period of Chinese development is in the Donghan dynasty , during which, many new words and new meanings of some old words, some special vocabulary forms appear, and the word-formation has made progress too. Therefore, increasingly, excavating and studying materials of Chinese has become a important task of studying historical lexicology of Chinese. Taipingjing ( )which, accomplished in the late of Donghan Dynasty, has been a important book of Taoism.It supplies a lot of materials for studying colloquial language of Donghan Dynasty. The dissertation counts the disyllabic words of the book and puts emphasis on completely describing and analyzing the disyllabic new words or new meanings of the book, by means of the method of fixed quantity statistics and static description. At the same time,it tries to find out the characteristics of the disyllabic new words, by comparing Taipingjing with the other books of the same stage. It also points out some weakness in collecting words, giving examples and interpreting the meaning of the words in the Grand Dictionary of Chinese Language. The author wishes to make some contributions towards the research on the history of Chinese Language, especially historical lexicology of Chinese, and supplies some materials and makes some suggestions for compiling and correcting the Chinese Dictionaries.
