Quantifier "" "grammatical Function And Significance

个" is a word that the status and function are very speical in Modern Chinese . It has many glaring features such as wide expression of quantity , varied grammatical functions , high frequency of use and so on.The Chinese researchers have inquired a lot into the origin and development of "个" , including synchronic description and diachronic analysis . Their work has been fruitful . However, the present study about the status and feature of "个" is still in a vague condition . So , the thesis attempts to give certain description and interpretation about the status of " 个" ( as a classifier ) , and give a relative clear definition about theoveruse of it: in Modern Chinese classifier ,the special one -- "个" ,which has the quite powerful function on Classifier , Noun Combination , presents the phenomenon that the wider the range , and the higher the frequency . With regard to the quality of " 个", the thesis tries to classifyit into three kinds --个1( as a content word ) ,个 3 ( as a functionword ) and 个 2 ( the one between 个1 and 个3) . We make the classify by its degree of grammaticalization and the grammatical function , adhering to the principle of combining synchronism with diachronism .This thesis mainly has two parts : 1. the overuse of "个" ( as a classifier ); 2. the grammatical function and meaning of "个". We applies some theories and principles of grammaticalization and combines description with interpretation .
