Lukacs Aesthetic Thought

Georg Luka cs is a contemporary Hungarian thinker known all over the world, and one of the most influential Marxist theorists in the twentieth century. His aesthetic theory has a great influence on modern Europe, and even pn modem Chinese artistic trend. Luld cs has mode great contributions towards the development of Marxist aesthetics and artistic theory in his life. Luld cs is famous in literary circle for his aesthetic study and artistic comment, but his philosophical thought is the true cradle of his thoughts. From the perspective of theory of reflection, he sets daily life as the philosophical ontological basis of his aesthetics. As to the origin of art and aesthetic action, Luld cs, on the one hand, accepts and develops Marx and Engels' theory of labour origin. On the other hand, he uses the theory of witchcraft theory as its supplement. He uncovers the real cause of the origin of art from the interaction between labour and witchcraft. He classifies reflection into daily reflection, scientific reflection and aesthetic reflection, and regards personification as the basic characteristic of aesthetic reflection. As to the relation between subjectivity and objectivity in aesthetic reflection, he puts forward a proposition that "Where there is no subjectivity, there is no objectivity", emphasizing the salient function of mankind's subjectivity in aesthetic reflection. He disapproves intuitionism, and advocates dialectical understanding of the aesthetic intuition. In the respect of prototypicality, he considers particularity as the intrinsic structure of the aesthetic action. Laid cs emphasizes the enduring influence and the guiding function of ideology on art. At the same time, he also points out the resemblance between art and philosophy, for art has no direct influence on social structure, thus not a pure form of ideology. In the process of aesthetic production, artistic form promotes man to his level. As a reflection of human reality, art has the cognitive and ethical functions. In this way, aesthetic action is identical with the understanding of the world. It puts in the central place the man with his self-consciousness from the harmonious and whole entity. Luld cs loathes expressionism and modernist art, but advocates realism. Therefore, he treats aesthetics as the philosophical subject with the deepest connotation.Luki cs' aesthetic theory is rich and develops Marxist thoughts, becoming one of the most important representatives in the twentieth century Marxist aesthetics. Some of his aesthetic views especially in his earlier works have laid the foundation for the creation and development of the Marxist aesthetics in the West. However, some obvious theoretical mistakes do exist in his aesthetic thoughts.
