The Results Of The Scope Of The Semantics Of Syntactic Research

The category of Result, as an important semantic category, is restrained in the semantic relationship between action and result. This article, guided by Case Grammar and the Theory of Three-dimensions, analyses the sub-categories of the category of Result and their respective semantic frames. Based on the analyses, exploration on the nuclear sentences generated by kinds of semantic frames and other sentence patterns related to them is further done.Content:1. The connotation of denotation of the definition of the category of Result is determined according to deep semantic relations. Also the Result-object which is directly generated from Deep-structure and the one which is transferred are differentiated.2. From the two perspectives of the syntagmatic relation and paradigmatic relations, the category of Result is categorized to abstract things and concrete things. Although the perspective is different, there's overlapping on the scope of the four sub-categories. The paper on the whole is based on syntagmatic relations.3. Result-category may fall into agentive and non-agentive frames. According to different semantic features and so-occurrence among kinds of sub-categories of Result, every semantic frame with its respective sub-category of Result is generalized.4. Different sub-categories of Result, semantic co-occurrence and semantic frames make the generated sentences containing Result category show different syntactic features. Result categories may fall into other syntactic locations escaping from VR So some other sentence patterns may be generated relating to the nuclear sentences generated directly from Deep-structure.
