He is always attempting to reflect some great social problems through his fictions and leading people to make a sober cognition and judgement by describing troublous social phenomena. Chen-ying-zhen had been kept an eye on the lower intellectures' lives and fates when he started to write. Shortly after that, he began to write the romance and the relations between the mainland people and Taiwan people, criticize modernism and the capitalist dissimilation phenomena. As the political literature rose in the 1980s, he mediated the white terror in the 1950s. At the end of 20 century, when the backwash of Taiwan independence rose, Chen-ying-zhen cleaned up the historic memory by describing the elder groups once again.Chen-ying-zhen's fictions are near the realities, expressed for his feelings, written for his purpose.
