Nigeria is located in West Africa. It gained its independence on October 1, 1960, but still is a member of Commonwealth of Nations .On February 10,1971, China established diplomatic relations with Nigeria, which has significant status and the most population in Africa.It is the more representative and important period in Nigeria from 1960 to 1979 . In the twenty years, Nigerian government and people choose Import Substituting Industrialization as the economic strategy, made three national development plans and did a lot with keen expect to realize industrialization.The aim of the thesis in five parts is to hold the process of Nigerian Import Substituting Industrialization. First, thoroughly analyze the reason why Nigeria chose the Import Substituting Industrialization as the development strategy. Secondly, considering three national development plans as the leading clues, lay emphasize on evaluating the policies to accelerate manufacturing development as well as the measures and decrees which were taken for complementarities. Thirdly, point out the ISI' s achievements, elementarily establishing the national industrial system and realizing rapid progress. Fourthly, the author will discus some problems still existent in Nigerian ISI, and deliver herself of some sentiments about the relations between political situation, governmental safeguards, agriculture, petroleum and the Nigerian Import Substituting Industrialization . In the end, summarize above paragraphs, confirm Nigerian efforts and achievements from 1960 to 1979, then expect Nigeria and china make economic progress together in the future.
