Cultural radicalism is an influential trend in the history of Modern China ' s culture, whose effect on the society is enormous .At the beginning of 21st century, it is of great ideological Significance and social values to renew that period of thought history, dig the spiritual treasure of the modernization group of late Qing Dynasty, and then promote their creative spirit and critical senses, especially in the hot economic current at present.Cultural radicalism emerges in a special social background when the Qing government was defeated by foreign powers repeatedly and Chinese nations came to a critical moment. Such facts smashed to pieces the pipe-dream of "China center theory" , and made people at that time start to face up to their own deficiency. What is more, the traditional monism mode of thinking contributes to the emergence of cultural radicalism. Cultural radicalism suggests violently -ebelling against convention but warmly embracing western culture . The thinkers it that period lived in a changeable society and hence their thoughts are complex and changeable .The author strives to grasp one side of the thought, tries to ;larify the track of cultural radicalism from their proposes of reforming and abolishing the civil service examination system, criticizing the doctrine of :he " Three Cardinal Guides " and the set of " Five Constant Virtues ".comparing Chinese culture with western ,negating the tradition .advocating learning western civilization .when the reform movement ended in defeat and the modernization group escaped abroad , their thoughts were substituted by another form ,which exceeds the scope of my thesis .But their ;ritical senses are succeeded directly by the New Cultural Movement .From then on ,people begin to challenge tradition .But there are limitations in their ;houghts such as apparent immaturity .partiality and unsuitability .
