People have never stopped their efforts in looking for visual expressions of emotions. They also keep looking for those methods how to restore their memories and knowledge in the form of graphs as well as how to simplify and program the process of information transmission. The development of graphic transmission medias, like the emergence of characters and the development of printings etc, has reflected people's consistent pursuits in this aspect. New technology brings about new expressions in medias. The development of computer networks technology has represented people's current exploration of new expression. It is just for people's perseverant efforts in creation and renovation of media transmission that expressions of graphic languages have turned out to be astonishingly impressive. At present, computer has taken the place of manual operation, printing has enabled the possibility of mass production and the styles of graphic expressions have fallen into varied categories. Anyhow, the graphic languages in modem advertisement still have a close relationship with traditions. No matter what forms advertisement takes, it is to transmit information. In addition, once any new form or style of advertisement has come into being, instead of disappearance in the progression of time and society, it will remain and be carried forward in the succeeding development of advertisement. Therefore, in different phases of economic and social development, different media methods have exerted different influence on the expression of graphic languages.With inscriptions on bones or tortures shells, China has been listed among those counties with earliest civilization origination. With the development of societies and economies, the emergencies of surplus commodities, advertisement has come into being. In the traditional societies where survival economy dominated, advertisements were not in the central position. Due to limited level of science and technology and the humdrum forms of medias, expression of graphic languages then was more or less direct. Yet with the development of society and economy, and the development of science and technology, both categories and functions of medias have been fully enriched and developed. Particularly in modern society, with aid to moderntechnological tools like sound, lights, electricity and colors, graphic expressions in advertisement have gradually displayed a multiplex, dynamic, virtualized tendency. And the information transmitted in advertisement has become one of the most active and influential factors in the dominant cultural power. It influences on modern culture and development of economy, people's life value, life styles and mindsets cannot be underestimated. Therefore, the development of the advertisement development in China can also reflect the evolution of graphic expressions. On the basis of a combination of media and graphic expressions, researches can reveal more easily how the graphic expressions have come into being and what its characteristics are.
