The purpose of this research is to analyze the present situation about the job satisfaction of the civil servant of the Government of Macao Special Administrative Region (herein after call Macao SAR Govt), analyze the relationship between changing individual background and job satisfaction and compare the job satisfaction of those whose academic qualification is above job requirement (herein after call above requirement group) with those whose qualification is consistent with the job requirement (herein after call consistent with requirement group).The short questionnaire of Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire (herein after call MSQ) is adopted for this research. 308 successful questionnaires are obtained from the target group, i.e. the civil servant who are currently working for the Macao SAR Govt. The result will be analyzed by the following statistical methods: mean, t-test, one-way ANOVA and two-way ANOVA.The result of the research shows that the job satisfaction of the civil servant who are currently working for the Macao SAR Govt inclined to be satisfactory. However, it remarkably shows that the consistency between one's academic qualification and job requirement varies the level of one's job satisfaction. It also shows that the overall job satisfactory level of the civil servant of consistent requirement group (except the group of superior technician) is higher than the above requirement group. Finally, based on the result of this research which conveys the correlation between job satisfaction and academic qualification, relevant suggestions have been made in order to provide some reference to the Macao SAR Govt in human resources management and policy making.
