With the further reform and the increasing of communications between countries, conflicting and misunderstanding in intercultural communication takes place frequently. Among it, conflicting of body language in non-verbal communication as a whole takes much proportion. Body language is a sign system. It's a message tool for people to express feelings and make clear attitudes and it's helpful to send information when people use language at the sane time. This dissertation illustrates sign meaning of body language and its role in intercultural communication from five points: facial expressions, gestures, postures, body touch and body distance. At the same time, it contrasts the cultural meaning of body movements between China and western countries. The contrast will help reduce cultural conflicting and misunderstanding and get to intercultural communication successfully. |
