The human communication is a combination of verbal communication&nonverbal communication.The so-called "nonverbal communication" is actually a process of transinformation.Through the methods which do not fall within the scope of the language.Body language is the an important means of nonverbal communication, while its connotation varies with cultural background, lifestyle and thinking style, etc. The communicative functions of body language within different national cultures must be learned if we wish do powerful and successful communication with different cultural groups.This article is targeted at the application of body language in intercultural communication communication status in quo between Chinese and Thai, reasons for communication barriers, solutions, additionally, so as to promote economic and cultural relations between the two countries, and finally the application of body language and an nouncementsin foreign Chinese teaching pointed out.The article is divided into the following parts:Introduction:Introduces the application of nonverbal communication in inter cultural contact study of body language,study status in quo of Chinese&Thai body language,then presents the objectives and significance of the research in the article.Part1:Discusses the emerging and background of nonverbal communication,the classifications,then presents the conception of body language.Part2:Expounds the cultural characteristics functions of body language. The six characteristics are extensiveness, intuitiveness, emotion, concomitant, dependency, otherness and times, while the functions are duplicate, complement,substitute, negative and adjust language information.Part3:Analyzes the application of Chinese and Thai body language in inter cultural communication, the study necessity of the Chinese and Thai body language.The differences among sign Language.movement and a few taboos in daily life between Chinese and Thai body language according to the classifications.Part4:Discusses the barriers and solutions in intercultural communication,due tothe differences between Chinese and Thai body language.To avoid obstacles through ideology, culturerecognizing, some rites of passage, being generous, tolerant and other methods,Part5:Analyzes the application of body language in foreign Chinese teaching, points out the usage of body language in foreign Chinese teaching,in line with the teaching function of it, and announcements in the teaching, such as considering the students community accept-ability, and appropriateness of body language.Conclusion:Summarizes the whole article, puts a strong emphasis on the importance of body language and obstacle avoid an cein intercultural communication, and calls reasonable application of body language in teaching.
