The "YuPian"of Guyewang is the most important dictionary after 'ShuoWen'in China,meanwhile it was the first dictionary of 'kaishu 'in the history of Chinese Philology。Without doubt, it has played an essential role in the history of Chinese philology. It hasbeen abridged several times since it appeared and its original features can not been foundout. Only 'Yupian'of Song Dynasty could been accepted and the primary 'Yupian 'hadbeen absent during a long period and seldom been heard of by people.Fortunately, Lishuchang,Yangshoujing and Luozhenyu took the remaining partswhich was not integrated from Japan. The remaining parts were the 1\8 of the primary'Yupian 'and there are many scholars who have studied it. Although there are achievementswhich have been received, there is still much space of the study of 'Yupian'. Based on theachievements of the former scholars, this article will study 'Yupian 'carefully and deeply.Accordingly ,the contents,functions and types will be discussed here, and the values of'Yupian'at philology, archeology, and editing of dictionaries will be reviewed. The'Yupian'will be revaluated in this article.There are five parts and about 33000 words in this article. The first part mainlydiscusses the precise time when 'Yupian'had been finished. Firstly, the author's life,backgrounds and accomplishments. Through analyzing the data of 'Yupian'of Songdynasty , the precise time when 'Yupian'had been finished will be known.The second part will solve problems of the editions. According to the clues about'Yupian'in the ancient books and records, the cause of why the primary 'Yupian'had beenlost will be found out, and at the same time whether the edition in which Zhuyizun wrotepreface is true.Meanwhile, the course of the remaining parts being discovered will be introduced.The third part hackles the contents of 'Yuoian'. 'Yupian'includes 30 volumes andthere are Yewang's 'Xu'and 'Qi'at the front and end of the book. There are 542 entries and16917 words in 'Yupian'. Its stylistic rules and layout imitated the 'Shuowen', and createdthe 'Yiyileiju'. Its stylistic rules and layout were that the 'Yinqie'was in front and'Huoti 'was in end and it cited many ancient books and explained them carefully.
