Family novel contains abundant historical and cultural contents, so it becomes a type of writing that wins the writer's great favor. Since the new period, especially after the middle period of the eighties, family novel obtains another prosperous opportunity, injecting new thought content and writing technique on inheriting the writing mode of family novel in the past in China. At that moment the authoress' creation has already formed a whiff of powerful strength in the literary world, among whom such as Zhang Jie, Wang Anyi, Tie Ning, Xu Xiaobin, Zhao Mei, Jiang Yun, etc. incorporate strong feminine consciousness while writing family novels and combine family text and sex text together. What these authoresses write are all history of "maternal family", which is different from the original family history that only refers to "paternal family" only, so demonstrating unique aesthetic standard and focus concern. The protagonists of the family story in their works are females and these females, as one's own subject of life, become prominent in the family history. Contrary to this is that the male protagonists in the family are in absent position, which subverts the history of the male's taking leading in the traditional family. The authoresses pay close attention to the fate of the females with their own feminine consciousness and probe into the female's existence value, passing though pieces of the female's destiny tragedies. They also introspect the history involved and imply in the introspection spiritual puzzle that faces the contemporary people and enormous efforts that they attempt to look for spiritual homeland under the sharp change of the spirit of the age. This thesis regards the family novels of Zhang Jie, WangAnyi, Zhang Kangkang, Tie Ning, Xu Xiaobin, Zhao Mei, Jiang Yun, et al. as representatives, using feminism literary theory, adopting a method of intensive reading and comparison to investigate the family novels created by the authoresses since the new period.
