For high-discrepancy but not low-discrepancy subjects, actual-ideal discrepancy increased their anxiety and depression. Beck's Self-schema theory showed that the Self-schema influence individuals to processing information about knowing themselves. However, there are not so much direct researches examining the relationship between self-discrepancy and the cognitive process of human itself. Our study used cognitive process paradigm to examine the cognitive specificity on measures of information processing, automatic thinking, and trend of describing themselves with high-discrepancy of middle school student. The results showed: (1)The high-discrepancy will influence the cognitive process of human itself in negative emotional information, but not in active emotional content or Neutral content; (2)The students in middle school with high-discrepancy choose the negative emotional information to describe themselves more;(3)The influence of high-discrepancy has not been influenced by memory- load manipulation, the influence is a kind of automatic thinking ; (4)The high-discrepancy will influence the cognitive process of human itself in discrepant information; (5)The students in middle schools with high-discrepancy choose the discrepant information to describe themselves more. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Student in middle, school Self-discrepancy, Cognitive process | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
