As an important class in the History of Chinese poetry , Yongwu poems have a particular developmental rule. It shows abundant particularities in the Wei- jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties which is called "the awakening epoch of literature". This thesis expatiates on it from two sides: cultural connotation and artistic pattern.This thesis is divided into four sections: Preface, Section I ,Section II and Epilogue.The Preface shows concept and primary characteristic of Yongwu poems, remarking on the recent researches, and brings basic tenets forward.The thesis classifies and expatiates the cultural connotation of the Yongwu poems during the Wei-jin and the Southern and Northern Dynasties in section I ,and divides it into three styles : expressing oneself by describing matter, explaining truth by describing matter, enjoying and entertaining oneself by describing matter. Expressing oneself by describing matter is expressed in three aspects :the arousal of ideals, the removing of worriment, confiding disaffections. Explaining truth by describing matter is divided into two aspects: metaphysics and political rules. In the Wei-Jin and Southern and Northern dynasties, the rulers took part in inditing so that poets increased and poems were developed .Then these poems had more markedly amusing and entertaining character.It is summarized on the unique artistic pattern which belongs to every dynasty in Section II .It is divided into six chapters, and will be analyzed by their courses and characters. Chapter 1:From simple and generosity to oppression and profound. It analyses the simple and generosity characters of Jian'an period by its simple narration .And explains the course of the characters of Zhengshi period .It based in the historical background and the dark politics. Chapter 2:Luxuriant and simple. The Jin dynasty thought much of form and ignored the content. Reflecting to the literature ,there were so much luxuriant poems.
