Followed along with the progress of the globalization, the arts design education of our country comes into a new era, and there exist both opportunities and challenges. The arts design education in Sichuan also develops energetically along with the increasing fashion that many students choose the arts way to enter colleges. However, the arts design education is still at its early stage, it has not formed its own special features in the education system yet.This thesis is based on a large number of researches and investigations; it collects the relevant information from some arts design majors in several higher education institutes in Sichuan province on students' recruitments, majors' settings, courses settings, teaching contents and means, etc. Through the means of comparison and analysis, we can see both advantages and disadvantages of the modern arts design cducation in Sichuan province. The purpose of all the researches is to find new ways of arts design education that fits both the provincial situations and the current arts education in Sichuan province, in order to help the arts design education develop healthily.The whole thesis can be divided into three parts as follows:The first part: the introduction of the development history of the arts design education in Sichuan province. We can divide it into three parts according to the standards of classification of the national arts design education: exploration, stabilization and dilatation.The second part: thoughts on the situation and existing problems of the arts design education in Sichuan's higher education institutes. Based on the relevant investigation data on students' recruitments, majors' settings, courses settings, teaching contents and means, we can see that the general trend of the arts design education in Sichuan's higher education institutes is nice, but there exists the unbalance development in different areas. Even through the education level of some institutes can enter the national tops; generally speaking, there still has certain gaps in education levels comparing with developed areas. The main problems are follows: 1. most of the contents of the arts subjects are irrational and out of date; 2. there are many similar things in different subjects 3. There is no clear training aim; 4. Lack theoretical directions in the courses setting; 5. The practical education system hasn't been totally established while the teaching is not up to standard yet.The third part: put forward some advice based on the current development of arts design in Sichuan province: 1.reform the enrollment testing pattern of arts design; 2.make the characteristic school-running to be the development direction of arts design education; 3. clearly definite the basic qualities of talents on arts design; 4.optimize the course structure; 5. reform teaching methods and means.
